It’s raining outside. It’s summer here in Berlin so it’s a nice kind of rain; the kind that seems to wash away all the dust from the day and leave things fresh and cool for the evening. A time to slow down, have a cup of tea and share this wedding from Brisbane that took place on another special day earlier this year.
On the day of Justine and Cat’s wedding it rained. We met prior to their wedding ceremony to do their bridal party photographs at the Brisbane Powerhouse. I waited in the car with a pile of umbrellas, multiple back up plans in mind and watched the rain trickle dismally down the windscreen. It’s not the kind of rain anyone wishes for on their wedding day. The limo pulled up at the Brisbane Powerhouse, carrying seven bridesmaids and two gorgeous brides-to-be, all with more umbrellas. Justine stepped out with her umbrella open and, suddenly, the rain stopped. It was magic.
I have to say, a bridal party with seven bridesmaids was a first for me and was incredibly fun to photograph! We worked fast and captured some great images and then, just as it was time to head to the ceremony, the rain started to trickle again. We were so very lucky.
We then headed over to Studio 34 in Newstead. Studio 34 is a photography studio but in this instance it had been decked out as the perfect location for Justine and Cat’s intimate wedding. After a heartwarming and personal ceremony that was a privilege for me to bear witness to the place was transformed into a cocktail reception.
It’s a pleasure for me to share a selection of their images here.
